Top weight loss apps

When it comes to fitness and losing weight, you’ve got several helpful, mobile-friendly apps to choose from.

1) Lose It! By FitNow

The Lose It! App available in the Apple App Store and Google Play is one of the simplest weight loss and calorie counting apps available. Upon downloading the app, you’ll fill out your personal information, gender, height, weight, and then your goal weight and time. After that, based on that information, it provides your daily calorie budget every time you open the app.

With that weekly overview in hand, you’re able to calculate if splurging a little on Tuesday will hurt you when it’s relaxation time on Saturday. Like most apps, there’s an option to purchase upgraded features, but most of the most useful features are available in the regular version, including bar-code scanning for products, restaurant menus and a way to create recipes that save time and energy.

2) MyFitnessPal by MyFitnessPal.com

Available on iOS and Android, MyFitnessPal helps you keep track of everything in an easy-to-use manner. With a large food database and bar-code scanner, keeping an accurate count of your calorie intake is easy. MyFitnessPal also gives you the opportunity to earn back some of those calories incurred in splurging through exercise and movement. It definitely gives you the incentive to get up and get moving.

3) MyDietCoach by Inspired Apps

Also available on iOS and Android, MyDietCoach is another helpful weight-loss app. After a little personal bio, MyDietCoach provides you with a calorie budget and has you choose from a list of goals or create your own. Then, every time you open the app you have the reminder of why you started in the first place, which is sometimes just the motivation you need when you’re thinking of giving up. The upgraded version gives you the ability to store frequently used recipes, weight loss charts and health tips for a $2.99 one-time fee.

4) Jillian Michael’s Slim-Down by Everyday Health Inc.

Jillian Michael’s app, available on iOS and Android, gives you the option to purchase meal plans and exercise tips to go along with your daily consumption journal. These extra features can be purchased on an individual basis, weekly, monthly or yearly, depending on your preference. Despite the extra costs, a customized diet and workout routine based on your wants and needs comes in handy. Instead of floundering around eating salads and trying to choose between workout machines, Jillian can guide you exactly where you need to go to get results.

Whatever app you go for, you’re sure to find the inspiration you need to help you achieve the kind of results you’re looking for. So instead of staring at the scale out of the corner of your eye, get on your smartphone and start making progress toward that better you that you’re looking for.
