Breakfast is the most essential meal of the day and should never be skipped. In today’s world, mornings are generally busy, so people tend to skip breakfast. Taking a few minutes to have a healthy, quick and easy breakfast can go a long way to keeping families healthy and energetic. A wholesome and nutritious breakfast recharges the body and brain and makes a person more efficient in daily activities.

How does a breakfast help a person?

A healthy breakfast includes one or more of the following options: cereals, bread, eggs, milk, fruits, fresh juices and other dairy products. Eating a healthy breakfast increases the concentration, energy levels and performance of an individual. It increases the strength and capacity of a person to engage in physical activity. Breakfast provides a person with a diet rich in nutrients, minerals and vitamins. It also aids in reducing cholesterol content.

Quick and easy breakfast

It is not always an easy task to come up with breakfast ideas to tantalize the taste buds of all members of the family. Working women are always on the lookout for healthy, quick, easy and interesting breakfast ideas for every day of the week. However busy a person may be, it is important that they find enough time to make a quick and easy breakfast. Some recipes can be made in advance and stored so that the morning rush can be avoided.

Some breakfast foods that a family can stock up

A well-stocked pantry will definitely go a long way to making a quick and healthy breakfast. Some breakfast foods that can be stocked up include peanut butter, whole-wheat crackers, cereals, 100 percent fruit juice, fresh fruit, eggs, bread, hummus, tortillas, low fat yogurt, low-fat cheese, skimmed milk, dried fruits and granola bars. Plenty of easy to make breakfast recipes are available on the Internet. Here’s a fast and easy recipe to get everyone out the door, which along with some fresh fruit, will stay with you till lunch.

Quick and easy breakfast recipe – Tasty pancakes

(Serves 4)

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg – separated
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/2 a cup milk
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon butter

Preparation

First, separate the egg yolk from the white. Beat the egg white until it is frothy and stiff. Set it aside. Add milk to the egg yolks and beat well. Mix together the dry ingredients like sugar, salt and baking powder and flour together. Add this to the milk-egg yolk mixture and beat until they are mixed well. Add the oil and beat again till the mixture is nice and smooth.

Gently fold in the egg white. Let the batter rest for 10 to 15 minutes if there is time or cook right away.

Melt 1 teaspoon butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Pour about ¼ cup batter in to the frying pan for each pancake and spread with spoon. When bubbles appear and the edges appear dry, flip the pancake. Cook both sides until golden brown.

Serve hot with syrup, preserves or fresh fruit.

Eating breakfast has long term health benefits. It is important that individuals make it a practice to have a quick and easy breakfast to power up their morning and start the day off right.
